Match West Ham v Liverpool Premiere League 20-09-2014
West Ham v Liverpool
Competition: Premiere League
Match date: 20 September 2014
Kick Off Time: - 16:30 GMT
Having survived Bulgarian side Ludogorets in their Champions League opener, Liverpool will be looking to return to winning ways in the national championship when they face West Ham United at Boleyn Ground.
The 2014/2015 campaign has been a mixed bag for West Ham United so far. The Hammers have recorded one win, one draw and two losses at the start of the season and there is no doubt that the team’s main goal is to secure yet another top flight survival. At the weekend Sam Allardyce’ side shared the spoils with Hull City and it has to be noted that newly-signed striker finally found his goal-scoring touch. The capital club face a difficult task on day 5 of the new Premier League campaign as they welcome Liverpool at their Boleyn Ground and it remains to be seen if they are capable of recording their first win of the season. It has been three years since Sam Allardyce’s side last defeated Liverpool in the Premier League match, but seeing that the Reds have been struggling to find their form of late, I am positive that the hosts are capable of grabbing something from Saturday’s encounter.
Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll are the only absentees in the home side, meaning that Sam Allardyce is likely to field the same starting line-up that faced Hull City on Monday night.
.
Liverpool were on the verge of winning the Premier League trophy last season, but Manchester City eventually lifted the silverware. The Reds are on the same quest this term, but it is more than obvious that Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez will be sorely missed in the 2014/2015 campaign. Brendan Rodgers’ men have already suffered two losses at the start of the new season, with the team losing to the likes of Manchester City and Aston Villa. In midweek, though, Liverpool footballers gave their fans something to cheer about as they recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win over Ludogorets on their return to the Champions League group stages. The Reds now face West Ham United on day 5 of the new Premier League campaign and seeing that the team’s key striker Daniel Sturridge remains in the infirmary, I am not tempted to put my money on the visitors this time out. A man to watch in the away side will be Italian striker Mario Balotelli, who scored the opener in the 2-1 victory over Ludogorets.
Daniel Sturridge, Jon Flanagan, Glen Johnson, Joe Allen and Emre Can all remain on the sidelines with injury, whereas Adam Lallana is fully fit to face West Ham United.
Probable starting line-up
West Ham(4-4-2): Adrian – Cresswell, Reid, Tomkins, Demel – Noble, Kouyate, Downing, Zarate – Valencia, Sakho
Liverpol (4-3-3): Mignolet – Manquillo, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno – Gerrard, Lallana, Henderson – Markovic, Balotelli, Sterling.
